The Local Election Process
- •Prospective Candidates for Town positions compete at the Ontario Caucus to secure a position on the November Ballot.
- •After the caucus, our Committee helps the chosen candidates with respect to legal requirements, yard signs, advertising, and with campaigns.
- •Funding is provided thru a combination of the Candidate, and Committee dollars.
- •The State Board of Elections requires filing of financial data during the campaign (which the Committee Treasurer takes care of).
Committee Responsibilities
- •Post positions open for Town November elections
- •Seek and vet viable candidates for nomination at the Town Caucus.
- •Place Caucus Legal Notices in local publications as required
- •Orchestrate a Caucus following legal guidelines and ensuring an uncontested system of voting
- •Offer experience to help the Candidate Elects Campaign
- •Fundraise/solicit funds for Campaigns
- •Comply with all filing requirements of the State Board of Elections
OTRC Structure
- •There are six (6) Election Districts in the Town of Ontario.
- •There are (2) Committee Members for each District.
- •Members carry petitions every (2) years within their respective districts to maintain membership
- •Town Committee Members are also County Committee Members
- •There are Alternate Members who participate in the Committee functions
